TIM HONISS
Tim Honiss is a pianist, bassist, composer and occasional bandleader based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara. As a student at the Te Koki - New Zealand School Of Music at Victoria University, he has released two studio albums of original material.
He regularly performs with a number of local groups, both as a leader and a sideman. Noteable examples include his own award winning trio, Casiopea cover band ‘Galactic Funk’ and for the past three years, the university ensemble ‘Te Koki Big Band’ - formally led by Rodger Fox. With these groups, he has performed at local festivals like Cuba Dupa, Gardens Magic and the annual Wellington Jazz Festival.
He has also performed in musical theatre orchestra pits for local productions of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’, and he has also performed alongside Orchestra Wellington in collaboration with the Te Koki Big Band.
Outside of music, Tim has also done photogoraphy for local bands performing at festivals such as Newtown Festival and Gardens Magic, and he has also been hired as a photographer for Rockquest’s Wellington Heats.
In his spare time, Tim likes to restore audio equipment, collect vintage computers and drink too much coffee.
